ALEXANDER SCHAWGULIDSE

Alexander Schawgulidse was born in Georgia in 1974. His musical education started at the age of eight. After one year of private piano lessons, he was immediately accepted into the 4th class of the 10th State Music School and studied there for four years in the class of the Deserved Teacher of Georgia Tariel Beradze. At the age of eleven he already played Edward Grieg's piano concerto with the Georgian television and radio orchestra for the live broadcast "Magic moments of romanticism" on television. A year later he took part in the foreign concerts in the Moscow cultural center of Georgia "Msiuri", and as a special award he was able to perform excerpts from "The Seasons" on the Tchaikovsky concert piano in the Peter Tchaikovsky Museum House in Klin near Moscow. From 1990 to 1994 Alexander Schawgulidse attended the state Phaliaschwili music school for particularly gifted children (class of Ala Tchikvaidze) and has performed with the state symphonic orchestra several times during this time. From 1994 to 1999 he studied at the Tbilisi V. Saradjischwili State Music College in the class of Professor Svetlana Korssantia. In 1995 he took part in the National Competition for Young Pianists and won the special prize for the best representation of the Georgian work. Two years later, in December 1997, he was invited to the “Mikola Lisenko” international competition in Kiev / Ukraine. There he received a diploma and the special award for the best representation of the Ukrainian work. From 1996 to 1998 he was a member of the Tbilisi State Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. With this orchestra, he made several concert tours to Germany.

Between October 1999 and July 2003, he completed his piano education at the High School of Music in Frankfurt am Main (Art Education Department) with Prof. Lev Natochenny. In November 1999 he won 3rd prize at the Frankfurt DAAD competition. He also participated in numerous master classes with professors I. Lazko, E. Indjic, S.Perticaroli, A.Aronov and P.Eicher, and in April 2002 he won 3rd prize at VI. International "Nikolai Rubinstein" competition in Paris. 2003, after receiving his diploma with distinction, he was accepted into the soloist class (concert exam) with Prof. Irina Edelstein. He completed this course as a concert soloist in July 2006. Since 2003 he has been a lecturer for repetition and piano lessons at the High School of Music in Frankfurt. In addition, he has been a lecturer for piano lessons at the people´s music college Hochtaunuskreis since 2000-2006 and artistic director of the association "Brücke zwischen ost und West"  (“Bridge between East and West”) e.V. Königstein from 2003-2007.
